Everyone agrees that parking in shopping malls requires a fee. However, the amount may vary depending on factors such as area, infrastructure, facilities and parking time.
But in China, the cost of parking a car within an hour will basically not exceed 100 yuan (more than 340,000 VND).
Zhou, who worked in Shanghai, parked his car at the Changning international parking lot while going shopping.
When leaving the parking lot, the toll collection system automatically scanned Chu’s license plate, then automatically deducted the fee from WeChat through facial recognition function. Chu was so familiar with this billing process that he didn’t notice anything unusual.
But it wasn’t until he bought coffee at the store that Chu discovered there was a problem with the balance on his bank card, so he opened the payment message on his phone.
The message shows that Chu paid 13,120 yuan (nearly 45 million VND) at around 12 noon on December 23, 2023. As far as she knew, the Changning international parking lot charged 10 yuan for less than an hour. Why was she charged so much?
So Chu went back to the parking lot and negotiated with the manager. The manager surnamed Tu also felt confused when he heard Chu say that 13,120 yuan had been deducted from the parking fee.
So the staff let Chu watch the video recording of the toll collection location. In the video, Chu drove into the parking lot at 11:49:11 seconds on December 23, then drove out at 12:29:24 seconds, a total parking time of about 40 minutes.
The manager then told Chu that due to a malfunction of the parking lot equipment, the excess fee would be refunded to her, but the refund application needed to go through the company’s process. And because the company of Truong Ninh International Parking is a “big” company, Chu’s money needs to be processed slowly but can be guaranteed to be refunded within a month.
What made Chu even more speechless was that the employee also said that because the leader and finance staff were going to the meeting, he could write her a letter of commitment first. He guaranteed that the company would refund Chu’s fee within one month. If the payment was overdue, Tu would advance it to Chu.
But what Chu cares about is not only whether she will be refunded the money, but also when. Chu asked for faster and more accurate results, not an overly broad and vague answer like within a month.
In short, from Chu’s perspective, the exorbitant parking fees charged by Truong Ninh international parking lot have affected her life. The management staff’s treatment was also somewhat perfunctory, which made her very angry. But with no other choice, Chu could only wait for the company to resolve the refund within a month. If the deadline passed and she did not see results, she decided to take this to court because the amount deducted was not small.
