Holding a bachelor’s degree in his hand, he has a stable job in the city, but 9X boy Tong Minh Hoang (Phuoc Loi village, Phuoc Thuan commune, Ninh Phuoc district, Ninh Thuan province) chose to return to his hometown to work as a farmer. . The homeland where Mr. Hoang was born and raised has a tradition of growing grapes. He understands the hearts of the people when the harvest season is concerned with the loss of prices. So, after a few years of working in the city, Mr. Hoang returned to his hometown to start a business with the desire to find strange, high-economical plants to help people.
By chance, Mr. Hoang knew about Ha Den seedless black currant, which originated in China and has been successfully grown in the northern mountainous province of Bac Giang. So he pioneered to bring this grape variety to test in the commune. After nearly 5 years of establishment, Mr. Hoang’s vineyard has stabilized, giving 3-4 times more income than growing traditional local grape varieties. Hoang shared: “After nearly 1 year, I harvested 1.5 tons of fresh grapes. With the selling price ranging from 150,000 to 200,000 VND/kg, minus the cost, it is nearly 200 million VND from the first batch of fruits.
After that success, Mr. Hoang boldly continued to expand the farming model up to 1.5 billion VND. He mainly uses organic fertilizers and biological products to ensure that the harvested grapes are always a clean product. At the same time, Mr. Hoang invests more in cutting techniques and breeding to sell to people who want to experiment with growing this Ha Den grape variety.
Mr. Hoang said that this is a grape variety that has many outstanding advantages compared to other grape varieties cultivated by Ninh Thuan people for many years. The tree grows strong, fast for harvesting, the fruit flesh is thick, crispy, has a mild, sweet aroma and especially has no seeds. Ha Den vine has a growth cycle, for economic efficiency lasting from 7-10 years, a year the tree bears fruit 2 crops starting from June and early November. Fruit ripening is 120 days.
Since Mr. Hoang started his business 5 years ago, his monthly income from his vineyard ranges from 80-100 million VND, much higher than traditional grape varieties. Currently, he is also learning and looking to bring grape products to the national market through the form of an online business. The vineyard is increasingly expanding, he is also open for tourists to visit and check in, experiment with hand-picking and harvesting grapes.
