Coined by astrologer Richard Nolle in 1979, the term “supermoon” refers to a new or full moon that occurs when the Moon is within 90% of the perihelion (the point closest to Earth) in its orbit.
According to Old Farmer’s Almanac, the name “Buck Moon” comes from Native American culture. The reason they call the full moon of July so is because this is the time when the stags begin to molt and grow antlers again.
According to scientists, in 2023 there will be four super moons appearing in the sky. The next super moon is expected to appear on the evening of August 2, the 3rd and 4th will take place on August 31 and September 30, respectively.
