On August 7, 2023, Xinhua News Agency published a series of photos of China under construction of the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, a 2,980-meter-long structure that will span the Huajiang River in southwestern China’s Guizhou province.
With a vertical height of 625 meters from the bridge deck to the water, China’s Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is expected to become the world’s tallest bridge upon completion in 2025. It will cut travel time. across the canyon from about 1 hour down to just 1 minute, Xinhua news agency reported.
Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is built above the great gorge of the Huajiang River, which is known as the “Earth Crack”.
Previously, in June 2023, the Independent (UK) reported that the North Panjiang Bridge (or Duge Bridge) of China is the tallest bridge in the world, 560 meters high from the bridge deck to the water surface of the Bac Ban River. The Beipanjiang Bridge is a 1,341-meter long cable-stayed bridge, connecting Luc Panshui (in Guizhou province) and Qu Jing (in Yunnan province), reducing travel time by up to 3 hours.

If the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is completed on schedule, it will break the record of the Beipanjiang Bridge to become the tallest bridge in the world.
