Government leaders assigned the Ministry of Health to finalize a plan for sustainable control of Covid-19 until 2025, readying conditions to respond to another pandemic that may occur or Covid-19 to return. He also asked to continue to vaccinate against Covid-19 in accordance with the situation, including the study of annual vaccination in the expanded vaccination program.
Based on the guidance of the Ministry of Health and the Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases, localities shall direct specialized agencies to review and announce the end of the epidemic in their localities.
After this meeting, the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control has completed its tasks and will be consolidated to suit the new situation.
Looking back on three years of epidemic prevention and control, the Prime Minister said that the Covid-19 pandemic surprised the whole world, including Vietnam. When Covid-19 is no longer a group A infectious disease, the authority to declare the end of the epidemic will rest with the Minister of Health. Therefore, the Ministry of Health will report to the Prime Minister to consider announcing the expiration of the decision to announce the Covid-19 epidemic in April 2020.
